Wow, exactly the exploration I am sitting offlate with... I am 47 and cant go further in the quest of earning money only... there is depth inwards, which is looking for the light to emerge... I want to explore that and bring that to open, than working and getting frustrated in the corporate. So what's that stops me -> The Financial Security..... For all these 26 years i have not been only chasing money but also luxuries, so i dont have a strong savings that I can live upon while fulfilling all my responsibilities as a mother of 2 boys - a teenager and and another one still under 10.... Cost of living, education is so high - that surviving on savings is not possible.... Working slowly but consistently on my soul purpose - however quite quite far away for the money to follow with the pursuit of meaning.... hence working hard in corporate and working harder on self exploration :-) .... After reading your article - it felt you have written from a space where Yukti might talk may be 10 years from now :-) .... Thank you for writing Darius.... Not sure how much i can do with my current situation, but after reading your articles i feel hopeful
Seneca putting riches in the house but not the heart is such a clean way to describe the right relationship with money. I appreciated that you did not confuse detachment with pretending security and options do not matter. Money is a useful tool with an alarmingly good public relations department, so keeping it in the correct room takes real attention.
Achieving dept as a young person looking to navigate life, is more important than the quest for money and riches, which only leads to endless circle of regrets, given to the nature of man (a miser)...
This post is truly an eye opener, philosophy gives you clarity in the midst of confusion and chaos.
Profound! Just what I wanted to read!!! Money is the means but not the end!
Thanks for reading!

Thanks for this honest reflection, Yukti! I appreciate that. And also, I think a lot of people can relate.
Loved reading this!
Hello Darius,
I suggest you the book of Ecclesiasties, written by King Solomon. He teachings on riches have guided my thinking for many years.
