This is contrarian in the current scenario where most advise is "if not now then when". Most of it is FOMO. Thanks for a different perspective

Excellent balanced insight on self-employment vs. working for a solid firm. Each person must decide what works best for them, but only after knowing the pros and cons and costs in each role. This should be extremely helpful for anyone weighing the two options. Thank you, Darius, for another helpful article.

Thank You Darius, this is really a thoughtful reflection from someone who chose one of the paths but see through the narratives (even what could have been your own narrative at other time points, maybe).

I liked this:

"If they had focused on sales or relationship management inside a larger company, they would have been far more successful."

Why? Because it casts a light on what comes next in the article, the doubt, the reframe: there is more than one path. And is the one being sold the best for you? Have you thought about it. You can still try of course.

Thanks and Happy New Year.

Awesome reality check. My favorite takeaway is: 'A good employer who values your contribution will reward it.' In this day and age, I agree we can't all be self-employed, and in hindsight, I wish I glorified the side hustle more (getting and keeping a few). All in all, I still can't give up the dream of being my own boss; every year, it gets more enticing.

Thanks for sharing, Amanda. If that dream stays alive and the desire only gets stronger, that might be a sign.
