This is a very well-organized and excellent piece of writing. I have been reading your work for a long time; you may not realize just how many people you are quietly helping. I learn and discover so much through your writing. Today, I would like to publicly express my gratitude for everything. May your days ahead be filled with success and peace. Thank you so much dear Darius!
This is a beautiful thing. It's awesome to feel seen and truly helped. It's also incredible to learn that you've helped someone feel seen and impacted.
We all go through events. And we all have an internal experience of them. But most people aren't taught how to navigate that internal experience, so they just believe whatever is coming up. Emotional reactions feel intense. The burn of criticism lingers for days and weeks. You question your worth.
I like the wisdom shared here to separate who you are from other people's opinions of you. Don't make those opinions your new self-definition. It likely doesn't even have anything to do with you.
Don't let someone's frustration because of their rough day diminish how you feel about you.
Darius, I appreciate and applaud that you stood up for this waitress in the way you know best, writing to reach so many of us to remind us that we can always choose not to engage. That sometimes, perhaps, hurt people do invariably hurt other people, whether knowingly or not, but we don't have to take that on. To protect our own energies, we can let that go. My own life philosophies come from other wisdom traditions, so I enjoy learning from you what is taught by the Stoics - thank you! Also, I am really glad the waitress is back to doing her job and being able to earn her living. More power to her! And may the one-star reviewer find a softer heart down the road. - Geri

Hey Geri, thanks for reading. I like that line: And may the one-star reviewer find a softer heart down the road. A good way to look at it!
