Darius, Thanks for your article. Well Said! Actually, everyone knows, a good life = Be Happy. But the difficult it is to understand, the easier, it is to forget. So, I believe we should keep reminding ourselves the true meaning of Life at every moment.
We cannot afford to ignore philosophy, the love of knowledge which, when applied to our modern world, delivers true freedom. We see multiple threats from technology "development" or "creation" that we MUST deflect (e.g., addictive drugs such as Selective Serotonin Uptake Inhibitors, herbicides like Round Up that disrupt endocrine pathways, social media mind manipulation). And the best part is that philosophy is available to all, free for the taking.
Fantastic read! Of all the articles I read, this seems to be the best one by stating the definition of happiness and what is actually a "good life". Action matters!
Theoretically, if you begin with few desires and have no other end purpose then you can adopt behaviors (which may be uncomfortable in the beginning) but would lead to happiness. If I do all for my good, for my own happiness then I can suffer temporary pain. The weight given to happiness is larger than anything else like being understood, liked, employed, respected, etc. What happens in practical life? I am attracted by other ends like wealth, fame, respect, judgement, etc. If I live among philosophers with the same ends and all are practising the same then may be there would be lesser hindrances from others. Until then.
So Darius can attest to the work being attacked with all your ability, creative as well as physical. Today's writer entry was titled, Eat Your Weeds!
Atmospheric rivers will do what atmospheric rivers do, and our backyard attests to saturated soil beyond its ability. Borage, rocket, nettle, nasturtium, poppy all swollen with giddy ass growth!
To most city dwellers, it would be time for the gas and oil mixture "weed" wacker...but I choose to eat my weeds, and repeat again tomorrow.
Loved this post! Printed it and hung it over my desk to contemplate as I start my new year.
That’s the best feedback. Thanks for reading!
My definition used to be money, cars, etc. Now, it’s being able to dictate my life and schedule

True. It’s about the regular reminders.
