Impact moves through proximity, not popularity.

For ADHD brains that hyperfocus on external validation as proof of worth, this reframe is significant. The dopamine hit of likes, followers, and recognition can become the metric that replaces the quieter, more meaningful evidence that you actually matter to the people in front of you.

This was a great read.

Do the invisible work that nobody hands you a medal for, because it matters - that's the best advice I have heard in a while. Thank you Darius!

Thank you for this really well thought out and helpful article! One question, though, what if your aim is to make a positive difference for others? Such as seeing injustice and striving to change things for the better. Wouldn't it be natural to feel disappointed if one had not succeeded in helping as much as you hoped? Not because you wanted accolades but because you saw a need and hoped to address it.

Thanks, Andy. Appreciate the feedback. That’s a good point. I think I would be more disappointed if I didn’t try enough. Intention matters more than the results to me. If I know I did my best, I can look at myself in the mirror without regret. We can try our best to help, but the reception is out of our hands.

Thanks, Darius, that is really helpful. A wise person once told me that "the world is bigger than each of us and so no one can take the world on your shoulders....but each of us must do our part" That seems to align closely with what you said----we can only control our effort and intentionality, but not the final outcomes. Thanks again. Darius for your response and wise advice

Very good points! I’ve personally made it a habit to spend less time on social media because that comparison factor starts to bubble up. Be happy being you. Do good and live your life!

That’s the best mindset.
